ELDER MONTEZ O. JONES

Elder Montez O. Jones is a man of divine purpose, unwavering integrity, and visionary leadership, dedicated to advancing the kingdom of God through faith, service, and community engagement. A native of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, he is the eldest son of the late Montez E. Carter and Missionary Felicia C. Jones-Thomas (Deacon Glen).

A 1996 graduate of Overbrook High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Elder Jones embarked on his ministerial journey at The Jamison School of Ministry, where he was ordained as an Evangelist in 1997. He continued his theological studies at The Community Impact Institute of Philadelphia, graduating in 1999. His call to ministry was affirmed when he received his Ministerial License in 1998 and was consecrated as an Elder in 2001. He further refined his pastoral acumen by earning a Certificate of Pastoral Care through the University of Pennsylvania while completing the ordination process under The Historic Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ. In 2008, he received additional ministerial credentials under the late Bishop Benjamin J. Ravenel. A lifelong learner, Elder Jones expanded his leadership and business expertise through the Small Business Development Center at Kutztown University in 2016. Currently, he’s employed as an Advanced Medical Support Assistant in Radiology at the Coatesville Veterans Administration.

A shepherd with a heart for holistic ministry, Elder Jones founded the Outreach Ministry at First Calvary Church of God in Christ in Coatesville, PA. Through this initiative, he has extended Christ’s love to various organizations, including Chester County AIDS Support Services, Chester County Prison, 400 Oak Street Senior Center, Open Arms Transformation Center, Convoy of Hope, and the 6 AM Prayer Service.

In obedience to the divine call, Elder Jones established Judah Ministries Church of God in Christ on November 15, 2002, in Coatesville, PA. He later founded the New Community Christian Church, where he served as Senior Pastor from 2007 to 2009. His ministerial influence extends beyond the local church, as he serves as the Director of Public Relations for the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ and as a Servant Leader to Presiding Bishop J. Drew Sheard within the International Church of God in Christ. In July 2017, he was appointed as a special assistant to the Dean of the National Adjutancy Corps.

Beyond his ecclesiastical responsibilities, Elder Jones is a committed civic leader. Since 2019, he has served on the Borough of South Coatesville Council, holding roles as Vice President and two-term President. His dedication to his community is evident through his service as a Board Member for Coatesville’s 2nd Century Alliance, Chaplain for the Coatesville Police Department and City Council, Parks and Recreation Commission Member, Coatesville African American Chamber of Commerce Board Member, Coatesville Area Juvenile Alliance Board Member, and a former Weed and Seed Steering Committee Member. He also serves as the Spiritual Advisor for the CYWA Samara House, a shelter for displaced mothers and children, and as Vice President of the Coatesville & Vicinity Ministerial Alliance.

Recognizing the need for transformative outreach, Elder Jones established the Oak Street Community Development Corporation in May 2016, expanding Judah Ministries’ impact in addressing poverty and injustice within the Coatesville community.

An anointed psalmist and recording artist, Elder Jones launched his radio broadcasting ministry as Co-Host of The People’s Heartline on 1420 AM WCOJ, ministering to countless souls. His musical contributions include his first lead recording, Holy and Righteous, at the 81st Annual Holy Convocation of the Commonwealth of PA Church of God in Christ in 2001, under the direction of the late Sister Kitty Parham. At the age of 18, he recorded three songs with the legendary Evangelist Dorothy Norwood on her album Hattie B’s Daughter in 2007. A longtime member of the Grammy award-nominated Wilmington Chester Mass Choir, Elder Jones has contributed to over 20 gospel recordings, earning a Grammy nomination in 2000 and induction into the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2008. His ministry through music has been recognized with numerous Stellar Award nominations, culminating in two Stellar Award victories in 2011.

His gift of song has taken him to international platforms, including Gospel in Paradise (St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands), the 2000 Republican National Convention, The Bobby Jones Gospel Show, Rev. James Cleveland’s Gospel Music Workshop of America, and Gospel Today’s Gospel Music Heritage Awards. He has collaborated with legendary artists, including Patti LaBelle, and recorded the inspirational song Hallelujah alongside saxophonist Dave Koz, gospel jazz sensation Kirk Whalum, Paul Jackson Jr., and Bob James for the Berks Jazz Fest, which was featured on Sirius XM Radio. His ministry has also been highlighted on The Greg Davis Show (The Impact Network) and Delaware’s Songwriters Circle on Comcast Cable.

Despite his vast ministerial and civic engagements, Elder Jones has remained steadfast in his personal musical ministry, co-producing and recording two projects under his label, Judah Fire Records: He’ll Make A Way and The Mission of the Church: A Tribute to Sr. Bishop O.T. Jones, Sr.

His unwavering commitment to the kingdom and community has garnered numerous accolades, including Coatesville’s 2022 Pastor of the Year Award and the Chester City NAACP’s 2021 Heritage Award.
